Can You Imagine? This Gay Guy Introduce Fiance To Teens In Church & He Got Fire!

Good for him, I will say and I think it's the right thing to do. In as much as gay guys are welcome in the church and allowed to take part in holding some sensitive department of the church because the law of the land permits it does not give you the permission to make others feels it's right.

Casey Stegall (pictured above) was recently fired from the Children’s Home in Lubbock, Texas for introducing his gay fiancé to a group of teenage children when he took them on a field trip. This action (both introduction and firing) had caused controversy, questioning whether homosëxuals should be allowed to serve in children’s ministries and or introduce their partners to others.

Although, he said he did not display any public affection towards his partner, well, who is talking about that.

Read the story after the cut...

Although the 22-year-old Stegall denies that he displayed any form of public affection for his partner and has since gained support from the LGBT community over his claim that the Children’s Home fired him unfairly, Lynn Harms, president of the home, is standing by his decision.

The Lubbock Avalanche-Journal reports that Harms said “As a faith-based, church-related outreach, providing welfare services, if you will, to children and families, there is a set of biblical values that we adhere to and live by.” He continued, “When you are implementing life training and so forth—particularly with children—to put a confused message out there is counterproductive.”

Harms went on to say that the children’s home relies on a set of Biblical principles to model the children into how they will develop. He adds that by demonstrating his gay lifestyle to a group of teenagers, Stegall was trying to force acceptance of his desire to be different which he knew was not allowed, because he had been told what was expected during his job orientation.

Although Harms was quite within his rights to fire Stegall, since Texas law allows organizations to terminate their employee if they violate certain sëxual behavior, many believe that he showed discrimination by dismissing the child worker.

Some believe that churches should hire homosëxual workers, who are openly gay, to demonstrate their love for everyone, no matter what their gender issues may be. However, they fail to take into account that God describes the gay lifestyle as being an abomination in His eyes and no amount of twisting of Biblical verses will change that fact.

So, should gays and lesbians be allowed to hold positions in churches where they will come into contact with children? Jennifer LeClaire, news editor at Charisma, says that the answer is a definite “NO.”

The author of “The Making of a Prophet” and “The Spiritual Warriors’ Guide to Defeating Jezebel,” writes that whether they are a drunk, an adulterer, or a homosëxual, people who are practicing sin should not be allowed to minister to youths. She adds someone who is actively practicing a lifestyle of sin is not fit to be entrusted to lead others’ souls.

Suspending him is not the solution. If the guy did not have some of the teens that like him and are loyal to him, he himself will feel hurt and might backslide. The church should try and caution him openly. They should gather the teens and re-address them on what to do and not to do.
