The war of words between the General Overseer, Apostle Johnson Suleiman and Kaduna state governor Nasir El-Rufai over the controversial religious bill is not yet over.
Apostle Johnson issued an ultimatum of death against the governor then in an interview with Punch, the Gov replied saying, "Of course, I will die. . . If that Apostle is truly an apostle, he should mention the day I will die."
Well Apostle Suleiman has now replied him.
In a video, the apostle is seen saying El Rufai is dead already and that he should instead ask for the date of his burial, not death, adding that he doesn't give dates for death but only dates for burial.
See excerpt below:
“I said something sometimes back of some governors who are trying to Islamize Nigeria – Islamize Kaduna. They said they want to put a bill to control preaching in the state. The reason they gave was that they want to do that because of the Islamic uprising and issues of insurgences in the Islamic world. If you want to correct your people, correct your people, you don’t have issues with Christians. Christians don’t have problem. And the man said I should give him the date of his death. You
are dead already; ask me to give you that date of your burial. I don’t give date for death but I can give date for burial.”
Apostle Suleman called El Rufai a pathological liar. He said after due consultation by calling some of the leaders of Christian Association in Nigeria, CAN, in Kaduna to confirm if El Rufai spoke to them he claimed during his defense in the media before getting set to present the bill, they said they never spoke to him on that at any time.
“I called some of the leaders of Christian Association in Nigeria, CAN, in Kaduna and they said they never had a meeting with him. I thought the governor of Kaduna State was just stubborn but I never knew he is a pathological liar. You cannot sit on the nose of Christians and live”
Apostle told his congregation that he was a pastor before El Rufai became a governor and after he is gone as a governor he will still remain as a pastor. A governor just elected cannot come and want to license me. He also cited a Nigeria law that allows freedom of worship, that a state cannot wake up to challenge that. The federal law supersedes state law.
He further stated his reasons for the delay in response. “The reason I didn’t respond to him is because I am not fighting a personal fight. The governor of Kaduna is too small to fight me. I am not fighting any personal fight. I am a president of a church that has branches in 47 countries and you are just a governor of one small location. My concern is the body of Christ. If you go ahead with the law, you die” He sustains.
In defense for a pastor that wants somebody to die as speculated on the social media, Suleman said he is not invoking death on anybody but only warning whosoever is involved to be careful because attacking the church is like swallowing poison.
He went on narratives: If a man stand in front of a moving trailers what happens to him? If a man pull a trigger of a gun what happens? When a man start attacking church what will happen? All will lead to death. He said he is only sending a warning signal and precaution to El Rufai to beware of the venture he is entering which is capable of killing him.
He sent a clear message to El Rufai to leave the church alone. Christians don’t carry bombs and weapons in the church, face the extremist and ban them. Leave the church alone. He said Christians are always victims of Islamic insurgences. When Boko Haram came, it started from the church and so on and so forth. He said the church don’t have any problem.
He further reveals the agenda and the strategy. “They want to try that in Kaduna and if it works, they will try it in another state and thereafter implement it in the whole country but that won’t work.”
