10 Gospel Gists You Have Missed So Far... Myles Munroe's Daughter Did Not Die In The Crash

Myles Munroe, his wife Ruth and Daughter Charisa

It's good to be back and it feels good to get back to blogging after 8 days of not blogging. Now, let's see what we have missed so far because am going to summarize everything and you won't feel like you've missed anything.

Myles Munroe's Daughter Did Not Die In The Crash

Contrary to reports that Charissa Munroe died in the ill fated plane crash that killed her parents, the church, Bahamas Faith Ministry, has released a statement stating otherwise.
Read it below:

On behalf of the Board of Governors and the entire Bahamas Faith Ministries Family we wish to extend our gratitude for the tremendous outpouring of love and support by the many persons who have offered condolences and prayers.

Among those confirmed to have passed away in yesterday’s tragic plane crash were... Founder & President of Bahamas Faith Ministries International Dr. Myles Munroe and his wife Pastor Ruth Munroe, Senior Vice-President Dr. Richard Pinder, Newly installed Youth Pastors Lavard and Radel Parks and their son Johannan, Pilots Stanley Thurston and Farkhan Cooper and one additional passenger.

Words cannot express our profound sense of loss for all of the team members on this tragic flight. Dr. Munroe was our visionary, our founder, our mentor, advisor, father figure and friend. He was a global leader and icon and was respected worldwide. His wife Ruth was a faithful companion and constant support for Dr. Munroe and was equally beloved.

Dr. Richard Pinder was the embodiment of a true Pastor who loved people, was faithful in service and gave his best to all. Pastor Rich as he was affectionally called was truly the glue that kept our ministry together. His warm smile and personal pastoral care was truly a comfort and a blessing to so many of our members throughout the years of our church.

Pastors Lavard & Radel Parks were recently installed as Youth Pastors of the Youth Ministry having both being officially ordained and installed as the church’s second full time Youth Pastors on Easter Sunday April 20th 2014. Both were products of both Dr. Munroe and Dr. Pinders' leadership and were personally mentored by Dr.Dave & Pastor Angie Burrows.

Our pilots included Senior Officer Stanley Thurston who was an experienced pilot and served for many years as Pastor Myles’s personal pilot. Also on board was Co-Pilot Frakhan Cooper who was also a faithful member of our aviation team. Both gave excellent service.

Dr. Munroe taught us to have faith and to pursue purpose and advance the Kingdom Principles of Jesus Christ here on earth. He also taught us to be leaders. As a Church body and organization we will move forward as Dr. Munroe would have wanted us to. We recognize that there will be challenges but we have full confidence that God will see us through and we intend to make our founding leaders proud.

We ask for your continued prayers and support. We will issue further details on plans for home going services and other matters relating to the future of Bahamas Faith Ministries in due course.

'I am Ready To Die' - Dr Myles Munroe Spoke On Death 3 Weeks Before Crash

Myles Monroe and wife, Ruth Ann
‘I want to challenge every Kenyan to go to the cemetery and disappoint the graveyard. Die like the Apostle Paul who said I have finished my course, I have kept the faith and I have been poured out like a drink offering. There is nothing left. I am ready to die. That’s how I wanna die because there is nothing else for me left to die,’ he told the show’s host, Jeff Koinange. ‘When you die, die like I am planning to die. Empty. It’s finished,’
Dr. Myles Munroe stated in his last media interview.
He had the interview on KTN’s JKL Show, in Kenya on October 24. May his soul rest.

RIP Myles Munroe: A life of purpose...see his most famous quotes...

Myles and two his children
Dr. Munroe was a pastor, teacher, administrator, author, a father, a husband and motivational speaker.
The late Myles Munroe had a son Chairo (Myles Jr.) and daughter Charisa and said that his family is his greatest responsibility and his marriage his most sacred trust.
He travelled throughout the world as a speaker addressing governments leaders, businesses, schools/universities and church congregations. He personally addressed over 500,000 people each year on personal and professional development, and he received hundreds of invitations every year to speak worldwide.  Dr. Munroe placed an emphasis on the Kingdom of God and believed that the whole Bible, along with the message of Jesus, revolves around the kingdom and not a religion.
He said, "My vision, is wrapped up in one statement: I exist to transform followers into leaders. My philosophy is, trapped in every follower is a leader. My belief is, if that person is placed in the right environment, the leader will manifest himself or herself."
His famous quotes:
“Purpose is when you know and understand what you were born to accomplish. Vision is when you see it in your mind and begin to imagine it” “The bible does not say that a man’s education makes room for him, but that his gifts does. Education is not the key to success, it doesn,t guarantee anything; it is your gift that is the key to success” “Anyone who develops his gifts and talents will become a commodity” “You are meant to be going somewhere, to be headed to a destination. The poorest person in the world is a person without a dream” You are designed by God not to blend in, but to stand out” “If you have hope for the future you have true riches; no matter how much you have in your account” “Hard work and diligence are essential to success, but they require an internal motivation. That internal motivation is Vision” “Vision is a conception that is inspired by God in the hearts of Human” “God loves dreamers” You need to treat your finances as a resource God has provided to fulfil your vision, not a tool to fill your life with luxuries” You are not saved for the sole purpose of going to heaven; you are saved to finish your assignment on earth”

Chris Okotie asks GEJ to focus on tackling Boko Haram more than his re-election

Rev Chris Okotie took to his Facebook page to address the Boko Haram horrific advance in some parts of Northern Nigeria, asking President Jonathan to pay more attention to the menace and advised him to sack all his generals and advisers. Find his incisive piece below...
"No God condones this terror. No grievance justifies these actions. There can be no reasoning – no negotiation – with this brand of evil. The only language understood by killers like this is the language of force” – President Obama on ISIS terrorist group.
The FG’s widely publicized ceasefire agreement with the Boko Haram insurgents was met with more violent attacks, and the capture of more territories by the Islamists.
Their leaders even went ahead to disavow any negotiations with our government, with a firm promise never to make peace.
Of course, Boko Haram has made good its threat. The bombings have continued unabated; and as you read this, the North Eastern towns of Gwoza, Mubi, Michika, Gulak, Madagali, and several obscure villages are still occupied by the insurgents. During the week, Gombe and Potiskum were attacked, with a lot of casualties. Same familiar story!
Atrocities being committed by Boko Haram in these captured territories include rape, forced marriages and conversions to their bizarre brand of Islam; beheadings, random executions and looting. As far the insurgents are concerned, we are all infidels.
The Chibok Girls remain in captivity, with no hope they’d be freed soon; we have reportedly lost some of these hapless girls to snake bites and sickness. This current level of pessimism is informed by the hopelessness of the war effort and the government’s apparent lack of an effective strategy to defeat the insurgents. Clearly, our military is now in disarray, with soldiers fleeing the front as the insurgents advance, almost unchallenged.
So sad, the Cameroonians, supposedly our partners in this terror war, gleefully advertise stories of deserting Nigerian troops who seek refuge from advancing Boko Haram fighters in their territory. Obviously, for a country like Nigeria which prides itself as the largest, most powerful black nation in the world, with the biggest economy in Africa to boot, our management of this war does no justice to our image.
Indeed, it merely exposes the false optimism which our outlandishly great power image confers. How is it possible for a middle – sized regional power, which defected Ebola with adroit, efficient execution, that even the world powers envy, seem powerless against about 10,000 bandits and terrorist?
Defeated Ebola and a successful war on terror are all about logistics, efficient management of crisis and coordination. Why we can’t replicate the Ebola winning strategy in this terror war is confounding. Ebola is as lethal as Boko Haram, with potential to decimate populations much faster than terrorists. Yet, we acted swiftly and contained it, to the admiration of the world.
In Ebola’s case, we adopted an effective bi-partisan approach, not often seen in our strife-ridden polity. What has aggravated this terror war and made it so difficult to manage is, chiefly the failure of a divided, acrimonious and antagonistic political class, to unite against the common enemy of the nation. There are Boko Haram sympathizers in the political parties, in the military, Intelligence Services and the Jonathan Administration. Therein lays our failure to win this war.
It was easy for Gen. Yakubu Gowon to lead federal forces to overcome Biafra in just 30 months, because he had behind him a cohesive administration and competent, efficient war machine. And he acted swiftly to replace even his most popular commanders when they performed below expectations. President Jonathan, who has neither a strong war machine, nor a loyal, cohesive administration behind him, may need to look at Gowon’s template in his execution of this terror war.
You don’t keep a failed group of war commanders when your troops are being routed on every front, and territories lost randomly, almost on a daily basis. I made this point in my latest syndicated article coming out shortly. Even, football coaches replace under-performing star players when the team seems to be headed for defeat. President Jonathan should have wasted no time in sacking his entire war team and replace them with more proactive generals and advisers, in view of the vanquishing of our forces by a rag-tag, but well armed Boko Haram fighters.
He should not wait until the insurgents march towards Abuja before he does something drastic to save the situation, which is becoming fiercely urgent. More urgent, in fact, than his re-election bid, which obviously dominates his agenda at the moment. Nigeria’s survival comes first before anything else, including a Presidential election.
The ruling PDP tends to give greater priority to perpetuating itself in power than destroying the insurgents who pose such a potent threat to our sovereignty. That’s not realpolitik, its bad logic. Like I wrote elsewhere, this war should be at heart of the President’s agenda; without it, he cannot transform Nigeria, no matter how effective his Transformational programme is.
Boko Haram, like all Islamists everywhere, espouse a virulent brand of austere, absolutist Islam, driven by atavistic impulses. It takes more than mere grandstanding to destroy this barbaric group of deranged individuals

"People are foolish" CAN president, Oristejafor's wife reacts to the $9.3m money-for-arm saga

helen oritsejafor
Helen Oritsejafor, wife of the founder of the Word of Life Bible Church and president of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Ayo Oritsejafor has denied that her husband’s private jet was bought for him by Jonathan. She also described the recent $9.3m money-for-arm saga involving her husband as a sinister joke. See excerpts of her interview with punch below:

How did you receive the news of his jet’s involvement in the $9.3m money-for-arms saga?

I was really surprised. I didn’t even know anything about it. I didn’t even know our plane was out of the country because we leased it out to a company in Abuja so that we will be able to utilise whatever comes out of the deal for the maintenance of the plane because it is quite expensive. So, we didn’t know. Even though we read and heard some comments some people made concerning it, unknown to us that our plane was actually involved. We were really surprised just like every people. In all honesty, by the time we got to know that it was Papa’s plane, we knew that the enemies were trying to play some prank. It is natural because he is a symbol of Christianity in Nigeria. If anyone wants to move against Christianity in Nigeria, it would be easier for the one to go after the symbol. The only thing is I wasn’t expecting people to get really dirty as they did.
So you were really shocked?

The whole episode appeared as if somebody was out for some sinister joke. It’s quite obvious. Take for instance, why was it that it was Papa’s plane that would be hired? How would it be that it would be his plane of all planes in Nigeria that they needed for that mission? It’s still very baffling. Number two, it became obvious that it was orchestrated and the whole essence of it is to see how they can give him a name God has not given to him, and all because he has been a very outspoken man. I know him too well, he is a very down-to-earth person, and he doesn’t know how to hide his feelings. He is a very quiet and reserved person. But then when there is a need for him to speak about anything, he would rather confront things the way they are rather than hide behind his fingers. That is not him. I know quite a number of people have been very uncomfortable with that especially with the Boko Haram situation.
Let’s be frank, who would not be affected? You are leading a body and gradually, there seems to be an elimination of this same group of people. You would be a wicked leader not to react. So, he made every effort. He noticed that our government wasn’t really forthcoming with a lot of things; we seem to try to politicise a lot of things in Nigeria which is quite troubling. He went out of his way to address the US Congress. It was quite obvious that terrorism was being financed not just from within but from outside as well, whether to destabilise or in a way, indirectly force on Nigeria a particular religion which is quite shameful. And he was not comfortable with that. If you would know, this was injustice. So, he is now paying the price for being an outspoken man, defending his people, defending Christianity in Nigeria, and do not want Nigerians having to hide their heads later on in life because whichever way we look at it, history will tell.
Some people said President Jonathan bought it for him.

I wish he did. I have the list of the names of people who masterminded this thing on our record. Hundreds and thousands of people, church folks who said this man served us with every vigour in him, we could see in him a great man and he’s not getting younger anymore. He is ever on the road constantly doing everything he can for the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ, let us try as much as possible to elongate his life by blessing him with this gift. He didn’t buy it or put down money to say this is what he wants. He didn’t even know anything about it. I was aware of it. What I would have loved for them to tell me is to show me the receipt of the plane that was bought by President Jonathan and the person who said he bought the plane. I have heard all sorts of lies that maybe somebody did it on behalf of somebody. There’s no human being that can stand up to say I bought this plane. It’s a complete lie from the pit of hell. Because of his person, realising the fact that what should he do with this plane knowing the amount of money that it’s going to cost to maintain it; if he was using church money to maintain it, they would have cried out to say he is using church money. You can see how foolish people can be. If President Jonathan bought him a plane, can’t the same President Jonathan maintain the plane? Why must it be hired out so as to sustain the maintenance of the same plane if indeed it was the president that bought this plane? They politicise a lot of things. It’s really annoying.
Is Pastor Ayo really that close to President Jonathan as his accusers allege?

I would love it if people can help me define that word ‘close’. Yes there’s a relationship that has to do with being in his position as the President of CAN and President Jonathan as the President of Nigeria. Automatically, whether he likes it or not, there will be some level of interaction and that is what Nigerians are calling closeness. Maybe they should tell us how President Jonathan gave him one naira to buy a plane.
I don’t really think that Pastor Ayo is closer to the president than the Sultan of Sokoto, the co-chair of NIREC. This is not to say that Papa hates Jonathan, no he does not. He is a Christian and so as a Christian father to the nation, he tries his best to provide a guard. He speaks out whenever necessary. He goes in to offer his own advice or suggestion as the case maybe whenever he is asked to. When he wants to see the president, he makes request just like everyone else. And mostly, it is to discuss the issue of the nation. Many times, he goes with his CAN executive council members to sit down with the president and confront him on certain issues all to see how the nation can be well piloted. What I have noticed is that whichever way you see it, if I say this man is not close to the president, they will say it’s because of what happened, if I say he’s close, they will say that is what we are talking about. I don’t even care what people might say concerning that because you can never please human beings. What I am saying is that please before you start giving this man a bad name, find out the true position of things. Do not go out there forgetting that he is a husband to a woman and he is a father as well. Besides, he is a man who has sacrificed himself. I think Nigerians even have him more than I do.

He is a very passionate person. When he believes in something, he’s driven by it. He goes all out to see how he can really push across whatever he is trying to bring in. That’s who he is. When he got the leadership, when he was elected to lead Christians in Nigeria, he made up his mind that he was going to do everything and anything possible to propagate what he has been given. And he sees it as an assignment. Many times, people see leadership just to bear a name and enjoy it. I think if this man had wanted to enjoy the leadership as it were, maybe by now his relationship with the Sultan of Sokoto would be waxing stronger. And maybe he would have been enjoying more from the government as well. But he has decided to sacrifice all that just like Moses. Moses sacrificed and said he was not going to allow the booty in Pharaoh’s house to override his judgment and so he shut himself out completely from the judgment at the palace and made himself a sacrifice for the liberty and freedom of the Israelites. That is what we are seeing now with our father as well. He has truly given himself out to the nation and, then of course, to the people who we call his constituents.

Benita Okojie talks marriage and bleaching...

benita okojie

Aww, Gospel singer Benita Okojie who started singing at age 12, recently had an interview with Ynaija where she talked about marriage, her music, growing up, bleaching, Nigerian politics, working with Lagbaja and more. See excerpts below:
Growing up  “It was fun, very normal. I played with the children in my neighbourhood, went to school and played with sand like a typical Naija child until I turned 10 and released Osemudiamen in the Child of God 1 album. A lot changed. I was noticed everywhere I went and it took a while to get used to all that attention as a child, I started getting invites to sing at events, I was also travelling a lot and meeting people. I never imagined I would meet but thank God for my parents and siblings. They were and still are a huge support and source of encouragement for me. Oh and I still did my chores at home o!”
Unforgettable childhood experience “The first time I was mobbed after an event. I was out with my dad and people were running after the car and screaming my name. I was terrified! I didn’t know why they surrounded our vehicle and were making faces through the window. I remember crying and asking my dad why they were running after us."
What inspired her recently released hit track ‘JESU N’ABBA “Jesu n’Abba is actually a song we take during morning devotion at home dating as far back as the cosy inside of my grandfather’s house far away in Uromi, Edo state. Jesu n’Abba means ‘Jesus my Father, it is dawn, please protect me in your mercies today/tonight’.
The erratic security situation in Nigeria and the world inspired the song. It got to a point where mothers would go to bed without an idea where their sons/daughters were and reports like this made my heart ache terribly.
And when your heart aches and you go on twitter to express how you feel but still see breaking news of one abduction, killing, etc somewhere in the world, you realize that there’s a lot to be grateful to God for and your intercession should go beyond 140 characters or less. Stop tweeting and start talking to The One who has supreme control of the events of the world.
The song is a heartfelt request to God for divine protection as the world grapples with the most insecure it has ever been in eons.”

Challenges Gospel artistes face in the Nigerian music industry “Truth be told, Gospel artistes face a number of challenges but funding and promotion are the major issues. I know several talented gospel artistes who are truly gifted but don’t have the platform and what’s more, corporate organizations that pay well do not invite them for events and Christians who organize events do not even pay well. The broadcast media also do not support with airplay even after working with the best producers and releasing the best videos. It’s almost like, “look there is no time for your message”.
Highpoint of her career “Essentially, the highest point is when souls are won for Jesus Christ through my songs. That gives me great joy! And I trust that there will be higher points in my career, moving forward! You can also add being invited to Aso rock to minister more than once and winning the theme song of the 8th All African Games (COJA) and being the only artiste to ever perform at the opening and closing ceremonies of a FIFA sporting event.
On featuring other artistes in her tracks, “Lagbaja featured me years back on his album and so have a couple of upcoming artistes. However, I am yet to feature any artist on any of my albums. You will hear them when the time is right by the grace of God.”
Gospel artistes she would love to work with “Hmmm… They are quite a number o. Are you sure you have the time? (LOL) Oh well to mention a few Cece winans definitely! Mali music, Marvin Sapp, Kim Burrell, Lauryn Hill, Vashawn Mitchell, Lecrae. The list is endless o”
Joining the Nigerian politics “Hahaha… hmm… I don’t know o! Never say never. (LOL). I can only speak for now. Only God knows tomorrow. For now, No.
Bleaching “You know it’s funny that people think I am bleaching because someone still mentioned it on social media a few days back. The truth is I have always been fair. I’ve never bleached. I don’t know why people think otherwise. Google my childhood pictures and sees for yourself.
To the ladies who bleach: Ladies please be comfortable in your skin. God did not create a mistake in you. You are fearfully and wonderfully made. Don’t settle for bleaching cream. It will damage your skin eventually. Be confident, bold and rock that beautiful skin God has given to you. Black, white or tan.
Her marriage: This marriage talk. Na wa o! I will get married at the right time by God`s grace and when that time comes Ynaija will get an invite. I believe that one can celebrate one’s wedding however one chooses to celebrate it. It’s a day of joy and for a lot of people the happiest day of their lives. As long as one is happy with the decision and has the money to do it anywhere in the world, it’s fine. However I also believe in moderacy and prudent spending. Spend wisely and there are many beautiful places in Nigeria where one can have a beautiful wedding ceremony. But eventually, it’s your choice.

Prophet T.B Joshua splashes over N70 million on burial of victims of collapsed building

TB-Joshua-Synagogue-Church
Leader of Synagogue Church of All Nations, Prophet T.B Joshua has pledged N750,000 apiece to all the  families of victims of the Friday, September 12, 2014, collapsed building as part of their funeral expenses.
According to Encomium, over N70 million has been set aside to ameliorate the burden of those the victims left behind.
SCOAN released a statement saying a N750,000 donation would be paid towards funeral expenses of each family of the victims of the church building collapse – and pastors in South Africa have welcomed the pledge by founder of Synagogue Church of All Nations, T.B. Joshua, to donate N750,000 to families of victims of his church building collapse.  The chairman of the Mahikeng Ministers Fellowship (MMF) made the statement on Saturday, October 25, 2014.
“Mahikeng Ministers Fellowship has welcomed the donation of over R4 million announced by the Synagogue Church of All Nations to assist families of victims of the church building collapse in Nigeria meet funeral expenses…” chairman of MMF Zandisile Mpame said in a statement.
“The announcement of aid to the families that lost their loved ones during the tragic incident does not come as a surprise to those of us in the church who are familiar with Prophet TB Joshua’s global humanitarian and philanthropic activities which have contributed over US200 million over the years towards various causes to alleviate the plight of those in need.”
On Friday, October 24, 2014, SCOAN released a statement saying a N750,000 donation would be paid towards funeral expenses of each family of the victims of the church building collapse.  The church’s spokesman, Kirsten Nematandani said they had done a full audit of each family’s financial needs and assisted with various household expenses as many of the deceased were breadwinners.
He said household expenses varied from rent money to school fees and groceries. It is believed 85 people from South Africa were among those killed when a multi-storey guest house attached to the church, run by Joshua, collapsed in Lagos on September 12.
On Thursday, October 23, 2014, Minister in the Presidency, Jeff Radebe announced that DNA samples of the 116 victims had arrived at a laboratory in South Africa for analysis.
The DNA process was in the hands of the Nigerian authorities, who had appointed a laboratory in Stellenbosch, Western Cape, to do the analysis.  Meanwhile, the coroner looking into the incident, Magistrate Oyetade Komolafe, has ruled that Prophet T.B. Joshua should appear at the inquest on November 5, 2014, to share with the court his knowledge of what actually transpired.  The coroner made the declaration in objection to the serial efforts of the counsels to the church to prevent any invitation being extended to the church leader.  When the inquest opened few days back, a lead counsel for SCOAN, Lateef Fagbemi, described the church as a corporate entity, which was at liberty to delegate any member, other than the prophet, to represent it.
Another lawyer representing the church, Nnadi Jude, said the prophet was not a witness to the incident and did not need to attend the inquest.  The coroner held differently, saying that Pastor Joshua definitely has something to share. He, however, adjourned hearing till Tuesday, October 28, 2014. The coroner ordered that the names of all guests who were in the building at the time of the collapse must be submitted to the court to enable the chief pathologist of Lagos State to identify the bodies and return the remains to their families.
