Pastor Robert Cox, a youth pastor, who was charged with murder in Las Vegas, says he
only acted in self-defense. He spoke with news10.net from the
San Joaquin County Jail in California, which is where he has been since
Tuesday.
The pastor says that he was “blindsided and totally shocked”
by...
what happened to him.
Cox was with his wife and 20 interns in Las Vegas for a ministry
trip. The group had dinner at the Four Kegs Sports Pub. Cox says that
he didn’t understand why another man was threatening him for what
appeared to be no good reason.
“When somebody says they are going f**ing kill me and they attack me
and choke me and punch me in the face and go after my students and give a
student a concussion…” Cox said about the scene.
The man says that he grabbed the alleged assailaint, Link Elllingson,
by the waist and the two went to the ground. The court documents say
that Cox punched Ellingson in the head, leading to a brain injury that
killed him last December.
“I’ve never had such heartbreak,” said Gina Hardy, Ellingson’s daughter. But Cox says that he didn’t throw a single punch during the fight. “No, I did not throw a punch,” Cox said.
Cox’s wife Julie says that her husband was being choked by the man
and provided pictures of choke marks. She thought everything was fine
after she received a letter from the Clark County District Attorney’s
office stating that no charges would be filed. But apparently, they had
a change of heart.
The trial continues and let's pray that God vindicated the man of God!
