Oreofe Williams Made Godfather to Mr. President at the Awo Jesu Film Festival!
Producer and Director of Awo Jesu Film, Oreofe Williams, took to social media to expressed his satisfaction towards the just concluded AWO JESU FESTIVAL which was said to be extremely interesting.
The festival recorded a high number of representatives from about 20 Nigerian campuses with an an assemblage of very exciting and excited youths whose participation in the festival made it a memorable one.
Apart from the powerful spiritual sessions, the sports, games, interaction, praise and dance periods, the most peculiar session was the '2015 mock-elections' that was conducted by Mummy Oluokun.
The mock-election goes like this: Five presidential candidates representing various political parties declared their interest in becoming the President.
A sitting president who had concluded his two terms was supporting a candidate and our one and only Oreofe Williams was a godfather and he belonged to the party of Mr President.
Oreofe single-handedly picked the candidate who was actually not ready for the office and was not popular. On the campaign ground Oreofe did all the talking since her candidate didn't even know what to say.
There were camps. Every party was vigorously campaigning. Noise! Songs! Challenges! Contests! Placards! At a point, the entire show was becoming too real for a joke. People were going up and down trying to convince people.
It was obvious Oreofe's candidate would not be accepted because he wasn't popular, but Oreofe was in control of his party while one young man 'Hephtah' was very popular on camp.
Just one lady contested too and was more acceptable than Oreofe's candidate. As godfather, this was a test of strength. Oreofe had to do something. He and his party tried to lure the voters during election, with plates of rice and wraps of eba. Some outrightly rejected it, while a few accepted. When. Oreofe discovered they were going to loose the election, he commanded my thugs to attack the polling booth.
They added more ballot papers in favour of his candidate with the security support of Mr President. To count the votes was a serious issue as the 57 year old Mummy Oluokun had to move round the community under the watchdog of a mammoth crowd who literally wanted their votes to count.
Sure, their votes counted. Our Oreofe's ballot papers were thrown out. Mr president and the godfather lost the election. Hephtah won! The situation wasn't prescripted. All of them made their choices.
According to Oreofe, he said they all learnt many lessons: "To register and vote in the coming elections; to guard against godfatherism and encourage credible Nigerians; to avoid bribery in the next general elections; to pray for 2015 and more than praying,to vote."
He further said, "But I'm still worried over something: We had a higher number of women on camp and yet the only female presidential candidate could not win... This interesting session of the festival means a lot to me. How i wish the experience of Godfatherism in this 'mock-election' repeats itself in 2015. And surely, with you and I, it SHALL...
What a very exciting festival?! Congrats Oreofe Williams. We rejoice with you!
